Do you have five minutes? Then you have just enough time to take a few simple steps toward a cleaner, healthier, and more productive office! Here are some quick cleaning tips to make a big difference.

How to Get Employees to Keep The Office Cleaner

Cleaning the workplace can sometimes seem like a long, tedious, and irritating chore--but it doesn't have to be. A few little steps can make a huge difference in how your office looks, feels, and, yes, even smells.

Have your employees pitch in for a few minutes every week and you'll see a cleaner, happier office. These three steps are simple ways to contribute to a healthier and more productive office, and they take very little time.

Ready to get started? Here are just a few simple things you can do!

#1: Clean the phones, keyboards, and mice.

Everybody knows how germ-covered and dirty a phone can get, but nobody wants to think about it. Luckily, it doesn't take too long use an antibacterial wipe to disinfect phones once a day. Keep disinfectant wipes on hand and easy to access and ask everyone to clean their phones regularly. That same wipe can quickly disinfect keyboards, mice, and the area around your desk. This is a particularly important step during cold and flu season as it can help prevent the spread of germs.

#2: Dust, dust, dust.

Dust isn't just unsightly--it also carries allergens that can severely impact productivity. Just a little bit of regular dusting can keep your workplace happier, healthier, and better-looking. Having dusters or disposable dusting cloths around makes this step easy for your employees.

#3: Take out the trash.

Heaps of trash aren't good for morale, and they certainly aren't good for office health. Be sure to routinely take out the garbage to make sure you don't end up with any infestations (or mold, or any number of unpleasant things). If employees have personal or shared trash cans, ask them to take them out at the end of the day. You might choose one day a week for this task, or leave it to your employees' discretion to take out the garbage when needed.

When to Call the Experts

Let's be honest: sometimes, five minutes isn't enough. If your office needs a deep clean, be sure to call commercial cleaning experts who have all the right tools, skills, and know-how to get things spotless. Although your five-minute dusting or scrubbing sessions are an excellent habit, it's still good to have regularly scheduled commercial cleaning-- to make sure your workplace stays as healthy as possible.
